MULTI MODAL LOGISTICS

Please see below specifications and pictures

To support our business, we have a substantial shipping portfolio and access to a range of logistics, storage and investment capabilities. Logistics and distribution are at the core of the business; shipping raw materials to where they can be refined or processed and then used, or transported to areas where there is a deficit. Safe, reliable and responsible shipment of commodities is key to our business. We partner for river, air, ocean, rail and road transportation, which we use both for our own business and for third-party customers. For oil, this means shipping crude in large tankers to refineries, and then shipping the refined product to where it is consumed. 1WEC through its partners who both own and charters ships to deliver crude oil and oil products, as well as coal, bitumen, chemicals and pressurised gas. At any one time we have hundreds of ships at sea on chartered ship journeys. Our partners are is largest spot charterers in the world and manages a fleet of around 100’s of time-charter vessels and commercial tanker shipping arm of our group. With 24hr global coverage and a presence in six key shipping locations: Singapore, Bahrain, Geneva, London, Bermuda and Houston, our highly experienced professionals manage one of the world’s largest commercial shipping fleets, moving a wide portfolio of cargoes -from crude oil and its products to vegetable oil. They take their responsibilities as a manager of vessels extremely seriously while operating modern vessels built to high international standards and ‘oil major’ acceptability, and aims to work only with best-in-class professionals.

Before crude oil, refined petroleum products, natural gas, industrial metals, and other valued commodities can be put to good use, they must be bought, sold and transported. That’s where we come in. 1WEC Maritime Logistics provides shipping and freight services to 1WEC’s various commodity trading teams and third-party clients. It operates as a service provider securing competitive and reliable freight for our in-house oil, metals and minerals traders. The Wet and Dry Freight desks also operate respectively as profit centres in their own right. Shipping and chartering operations are managed out of 1WEC’s key regional offices. All post-fixture operations, which include issuing voyage orders, completing stowage plans, negotiating with port agents and handling demurrage claims are managed centrally from our NYC office. Our logistics team operates seamlessly with our trading desks to manage freight exposures and to add safety and efficiency to our physical transactions. We have ready access to logistics assets worldwide, including a large fleet of time-charter vessels, freight, transport, storage and blending facilities. These give us the capability to respond effectively to market trends and create added flexibility for realizing arbitrage opportunities. An important aspect of our logistical resource is access to the largest charterers of tanker vessels in the world. operating around a fleet of high quality tankers, gas carriers and dry-bulk vessels to accommodate our needs and also those of third-party customers.

  • Historically, the world’s great rivers have always acted as major transportation routes.
  • This is still the case today, and across the globe 1WEC uses inland waterways to convey a wide variety of agricultural goods.
  • In the geographies we operate, our partners continue to invest in increased fleet capacity, with barges operating, tug boats, line haul vessels, harbor boats, covered hopper barges, harbor / fleeting service , jumbo tanks barges and a full service shipyard on the River via own/ third-party transshipment terminal.
  • To get grain from producer to consumer, 1WEC loads barges at its river facilities, then takes them down to Port’s export facility.
  • There, the barge loads are elevated onto ships for export to destinations all around the world.
  • These facilities also make 1WEC more responsive to the global demand for grains and oilseeds, which mainly comes from Asia.
  • Some terminals provides 1WEC with added export options, such as the transshipment of grains on sea-river vessels.
  • These terminals are able to serve smaller vessels transporting goods effectively shortening the distance between origination and destination markets.
  •  These assets allow 1WEC to deliver products to their final destination in a safe and efficient manner. The partners also provides a third party towing service on the Lower Mississippi, Upper Mississippi, Illinois, and Ohio River.

Our biggest strength in transportation is in our ocean freight. Our partners fleet of around 200 chartered vessels serves global destinations, both for our own business and for third-party customers. Today almost half of our chartering activities support diverse third-party customers, including major global miners, steel mills, utilities and other industrial sectors. Our worlwide operations are extensive. On any given day we could be transporting sugar from the Brazil to South Korea, and bauxite from Guinea to Spain; shipping iron ore from Australia to China, and orange juice from Brazil to Belgium. We continually review and improve our shipping stock. We have started to integrate Tier III (NOx emission control) vessels into our fleet, and are upgrading it further with two ocean vessels dedicated to juice, each capable of carrying approximately 25 kmt. Both boats have temperature controlled, dedicated tanks able to keep this large volume of juice in good condition. Our fleet consists of a variety of ship types and sizes:

  • Panamax – ships that fit through the Panama Canal
  • Liners – these carry containers, usually with finished or semi-finished goods inside
  • Capesize – huge ships that steam all the way around Africa
  • Supramax – ships at the upper limit of what can be considered a ‘handy’ size
  • Road haulage has always played a crucial part in the transportation of energy, metals and agricultural goods from remote rural destinations to plants, ports and population centers.
  • Along with our partners we provide domestic road haulage services for grains and oilseeds, logistic services to farmers, coordinating the road transportation of their production of grains, oilseeds and cotton from farms to warehouses, ports and plants, service to third parties who export through 1WEC, coordinating the transportation of goods from their warehouses to the ports.

Rail is efficient, cost-effective and intrinsically more sustainable than many other forms of mass transport. Across the world, we use railcars that run on local rail networks to transport a wide variety of goods. We partner with a focus on reinforcing our inland origination capacity. Between 2018 and 2019, our partners acquired 660 grain railcars, and secured funding for a further 340, to be constructed locally. The new fleet will allow us to originate an additional 1.2 million tons of grains annually, thanks to  expansive railway network, through which almost 70% of grains are delivered to ports for export. In some countries, we use railcars to transport grains the products from the country’s interior warehouses to our port complex. We also move US grains and oilseeds through our rail and barge shipping stations, which are strategically located along Class 1 rail carriers and the Mississippi River. Offering a complete spectrum of service, 1WEC Logistics Rail Services will complete your end-to-end network. We design, construct and operate a complete rail management program customized to your business needs. • With five midstream buoy ship mooring locations between mile markers 110 and 121 on the Mississippi River, we with our partners overlay the primary grain loading area for the United States—putting our customers and their cargo at the center of ocean and inland waterway transportation services. Same for other geographies as well.
  • Our large fleet of Gottwald/Terex cranes is specifically engineered to transship bulk products, including— but not limited to—grain, fertilizers, salt, steel products, oil, gas and coal, between oceangoing vessels and river barges on the Mississippi.

Midstream stevedoring provides the most efficient transfer of bulk cargo between ocean vessels and river barges. This direct transloading of cargo provides five key benefits:

  • Number of cranes can be increased or decreased to maximize available facility capacity.
  • Minimizes cargo loss through a single “touch” of the product and sealed buckets.
  • Greatly reduces or eliminates the possibility of contamination.
  • Takes advantage of inland waterway flexibility.
  • Provides the lowest cost transfers available to shippers.

Managing global supply chains while working to minimize costs is a complex, constantly changing process. We understand these challenges and tailor our stevedoring services to integrate seamlessly into your supply chain and make it as efficient and effective as possible.
